Last weekend was rough!

Bella is such a little thing in retrospect to the number of puppies she's feeding... She's probably carrying a pound of milk in the nine pounds she weighs... And the puppies are growing steadily...

But last weekend, her calcium levels depleted themselves and we rushed her to the vets on an emergency basis...

So we now are doing supplemental hand feedings to the puppies in an effort to relieve some of the pressure off of her... Bella is such an easy going and sweet little girl - it's hard to believe she's gone through all that she has and still stays as sweet as she does...

She sneaks out in the middle of the night now and climbs into bed with us... She's found her very own spot on the headboard in the cushy pillows... She's also content to curl up in your lap and lay her head across your arm (and she doesn't snore like some others I know!)... smile...

Tomorrow she'll have been here two weeks and when she arrived, her tail seldom came up... Now, she runs around the backyard with some of the others and that tail is flying high and proud (even if she's weighed down with milk!)... I have heard her bark only once in two weeks and is just the gentlest dog I've run across in a very long time... They say the puppies take a lot of clues from their mothers (versus their fathers) and if that is the case, this should be the sweetest, gentlest litter ever!
