I've come a LONG way, BABY!

Sometimes I forget how much progress some of these little ones make until I have my camera out and am snapping pictures... I couldn't resist this one of Kimberly on the new steps... Why the 2nd one down and not the top or bottom?... Then the closer I looked at the photo, the more I realized how much progress she's made in size and in health...

Pulled from the shelter with her spinal column and ribs showing down her sides, I wasn't so sure if I could get this little one healthy again... But I guess that's the beauty of blogging about these dogs - you readily can see where they were and how far they've come!

Kimberly's GREAT NEWS

We had some great news about Kimberly last week that I forgot to blog on... Her new blood panels came back and everything is in the normal range... Our vet believes the great depth of neglect Kimberly encountered with her owner prior to being dumped at the shelter cause her liver to be inflammed, the body tried to heal itself and we just caught the whole situation in time... There's something about good karma that repeats itself back when you engage in doing good things in your passions... Had we not pulled Kimberly when we did from the shelter, get her the medical treatment when she needed it so much, she might not be with us today...

Kimberly has also gained a pound and a half with us on a good nutritional diet... She's still a major kissy-face pupper, but as sweet as she was in that poor state initially, she's even sweeter now that she feels great and is healthy again - WAY TO GO, KIMBERLY!

Kimberly - what a sweetie!

Kimberly is a class example of neglect and inhumane treatment by a human towards a dog. She's tiny (4.5 pounds), has been neglected and is underweight, but the horrific part about her story is that someone deliberately notched both of her ears with something like a hole punch. The missing sections are uniform and the same size... sigh... A close up photo of her ears is located HERE.

Kimberly is a year old, exceptionally sweet despite all of the past bad treatment towards her -- friendly with other dogs and humans. She enjoys being held and cuddled. She's a major snuggle bunny!

Kimberly is up-to-date on all her shots (including rabies), micro-chipped and spayed. She would make a great 'only dog' for someone to treasure and cherish, or would buddy up in a home with other dogs. While she is learning the doggie door, she is still not completely potty-trained.

Due to her small size and for her own safety, we are limiting this adoption to homes without children under the age of ten and other dogs no bigger than ten pounds and with gentle personalities. If you are interested in adopting Kimberly, you can print out an adoption application HERE and fax it to 805-578-2604.
